Jpeg of Mrs. Williams

I am excited to welcome my sweet second graders at Lone Star Elementary! I'm blessed to be part of the Montgomery community in my fifteenth wonderful year as a teacher. I'm proud that my own kiddos, Kinsey (8th) and Carson (5th), are also Montgomery students. I absolutely cherish being a part of this school and community. I hope that my experience and passion are evident in my time with your super second graders. I am excited for the year ahead, watching your kids' love for learning grow each day!

Math and science are very engaging in second grade.  In each subject area you student will learn to apply the knowledge they have acquired from their prior learning.

Quick recall of basic addition and subtraction facts will be the foundation for soaring forward in math. Give your child an edge, and review their basic facts today!

Does your child have daily homework?

Yes!

Homework should be purposeful and productive, not time-consuming and frustrating. If I assign a written page or project you will find it in your child's folder with due date written on the top.

I will assign worksheets on an as-needed basis for skills that are proving difficult for the students.  Your child's nightly homework is explained below.

Nightly Homework

The most significant nightly activity for your student at this age is 15-20 minutes of reading and a bit of basic math fact practice.

Mrs. Baldwin will place a nightly reading log in your child's blue notebook.  Please record your child's reading.  When the log is full your child will be rewarded with a pass to sit by a friend from another class during lunch time.
