Welcome Lions!

I am Mr. Yawn, and I am honored and privileged to be teaching science at Lake Creek High School this year. After earning a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Biochemistry from West Texas State University in 1990, I trained in Medical Technology and became a laboratory scientist and worked at a biotech firm in the Houston Medical Center. Just a few years later, an opportunity to teach became available and I took it. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I am currently enjoying my 20th year in public education and have taught science in three school districts in the area, most notably at Magnolia High School for 15 years where I've had the glorious opportunity to teach Honors Anatomy, AP and Pre-AP Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. I am also currently an adjunct instructor at Lonestar College- University Park. And although I have been teaching for 19 years, I have never been more excited to open a school year because of the great students and parents I have met, the wonderful community, the awesome new school facilities, and the top-notch faculty we have here at Lake Creek. I look forward to the new challenges we will face together this year as we begin what I hope will be an extraordinary year!     Go Lions!! Be Bold!!

In Physics even during this remote learning adventure, in order to remain competitive with our peers, expectations will remain high. Students in this course will be expected to:

Participate in the class on a regular basis.

Ask questions if help is needed. (zoom, e-mail, study groups)

Spend quality time on assignments as necessary.

Abide by deadlines and due dates.

Master the content and learning outcomes.

    • Completing the attendance ticket in Google Classroom is mandatory to get proper credit for attendance in distance learning. I can not stress enough just how important this task is! This must be completed by 2:40 PM EVERY SINGLE "GOLD" DAY (for 2nd period)! See the calendar on my home page.

•You will need to set up an account in the website myopenmath.com

    The course ID# is:    69114

Please don't forget your login credentials. We will be doing some of our work in this website.

    • You will need to set up a ZOOM account. Please download the app.

    • I will be holding a dedicated "Question and Answer" session on ZOOM every week during the first 15 to 30 minutes of each regularly scheduled class period on Wednesday or Thursday, which ever applies to your particular class "GOLD" day. Participation is optional, but highly recommended. I will send the zoom invites in Google Classroom.
