Karen Weeks

Hello all! My name is Karen Weeks and this is my 31th year to be an educator. I hold a Master's Degree in Education Administration from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Baylor University in Waco, TX.

I have always selected the area of special education for my career focus. During my first 11 years, I was a classroom teacher with assignments that varied from teaching self-contained students with significant disabilities to teaching in a resource classroom. My experience was working with all age students from three years old through the age of 22. During my next 12 years as an educator, I served as a school principal at a residential facility, a special education supervisor, a high school assistant principal serving special education and 504 students, and an Autism specialist respectively.

During my last year as an administrator, I discovered that I was happiest whenever I was in the classroom visiting students. I determined that was my clue --I needed to be back in the classroom. I have been in MISD since 2012. I am the Life Skills teacher at Stewart Creek Elementary.
