Leadership Starts Here
I love my job! I graduated from Texas Tech University in 1988. I started teaching in 1989 in a second grade classroom at Glen Loch Elementary in The Woodlands, Texas. I married and moved with my husband to College Station. I taught fourth grade in Hearne while my husband was getting his Ph.D. We moved back to this area and I taught first grade at Oak Ridge Elementary. I started my family and stayed home for six years with my sons, Craig and Kyle.
I returned to teaching in a Pre-K classroom at Geisinger Elementary in Conroe ISD. I was able to get into Montgomery and have been here since arriving. I have taught second and third grade at Montgomery Intermediate and Stewart Creek Elementary. I am currently teaching first grade. I believe that first grade is definitely the place for me!!
My conference period is from 1:50-2:35. Please call to schedule if you would like an opportunity to visit. Please call me at (936) 276-4502 at Lone Star Elementary to schedule a conference. My e-mail is (firstname.lastname@example.org).
All parents should receive an electronic newsletter from Dr. Bartlett each week via email. If you do not get these, please touch base with her at
Previous newsletters can also be found on her website. We want you to stay informed and connected!!
PTA meetings are typically the 1st Wednesday of each month at 8:45. All parents are welcome!! We love our volunteers!! Parents support our school by their actions here, at home, and through positive words. We appreciate your partnership with our school and staff!!
What is a Tribe?
Each homeroom class is part of a vertical Tribe that spends a day together once a month. On their special day, the K-5 students will have a variety of leadership opportunities, learning activities, and enjoy lunch and recess and CAMP together. Parents are welcome to sign up to help volunteer for lunch duty on Tribe days and see the leadership and collaboration in action! Students and teachers will wear their colored Tribe shirt on these days. Be on the lookout for specific dates in our LSE News and Notes newsletter.
Tribes: Volcano, Sun, Valley, Star, River, Fire
The Leader in Me: Great Happens Here!!
We are honored to be partnering with the Franklin Covey Organization to begin the LEADER in Me transformation with our Lone Star students!! We will be sharing information and opportunities throughout the year.
As a mother, daughter, teacher, wife, I am very excited about how this can transform our lives and enrich and empower us all!! Thank you so much for selecting this program for us to have at LSE!! Great choice!!!
First Grade has Lunch at 11:30-12:00. If you are coming, allow time to get checked in and have your driver's license. First Grade has Recess following lunch from 12:00-12:30. CAMP is from 1:50-2:35.
The gardens at the front of our campus are not landscaping. We have several different outside learning areas for our students, including herb, rose, bluebonnet, sunflower, vegetable, and butterfly gardens! Our students have hands-on science lessons directly related to their grade level curriculum throughout the year with Mrs. Stephanie Baker, a Master Gardener from Ready to Grow Gardens. Our PTA supports this important initiative, and parents are always welcome to stop and watch a garden lesson whenever one is posted on the calendar in our newsletter. You will walk away with new information, guaranteed!

****Your child will come home with a reader from the Literacy Library on Monday-Thursday. We practice reading it in our reading group. Please practice reading it at home and then return it the next day. Your child will read a section of it to me individually. I record any errors and determine what activities I need to include to help them became the best reader ever!! I will call if the book is not returned, because I think it is that important and also because I don't want them to miss out on reading the next book to you at home.
Thanks for your understanding and supporting of these procedures for our Literacy Library books!!
Your child will have a very full academic day. My hope for homework is that you will read the Literacy Library reader with them. Please return the reader the next day. I also hope that you will practice high frequency words or sight words and math facts to 20 for addition and subtraction. Thanks for your support.
I would like to request that you send in snacks. I will provide snacks for the first day in a basket. Additional snacks can be sent in and your child will be able to select from the snacks available.

If your child is absent, please send in a note within 48 hours of their return to school. If a doctor's excuse is unavailable, parents should write their own letter. Students arriving after 8:15 are counted tardy unless they have a doctor's excuse. Parents, please escort your child to the front desk if they are late.
Every student has a card with his/her name on it to use as an "exit ticket" when they leave our building at dismissal time. This helps our staff quickly determine how a child went home (bus, daycare, car rider, parent walk up) in case there are any questions.
Change of Transportation
Change of transportation must include the student and teacher name. You will email the changes and a picture of your I.D. to email@example.com
Guests visiting at lunch must bring their license, wait for their V-Soft sticker, and eat lunch with their child at the Visitors' table in the cafeteria. Visitors are not allowed to provide food to students other than their own child or to invite other students to sit with them. Parents, please hug goodbye and exit the cafeteria 5 minutes prior to the end of lunch so your child can join his/her class for dismissal. Guests may not accompany students to recess.
***Fathers serving as Watch DOGS may be asked to join the classes to help with recess duty on their day of service.
Every child will choose a book from our PTA for their birthday at the end of each month. We are so excited to give the gift of reading to our students! Thank you, PTA!! We will also have our students introduce themselves and join us for morning announcements and Pledge of Allegiance on their special day. Summer and weekend birthdays will be recognized as well, and everyone will receive a small prize.
Please do not send class treats to celebrate your child's birthday as we have students with allergies and other nutritional concerns. Your child's teacher will help you with a class directory so that you can send invitations as needed instead of passing them out at school.
