5th Grade Art Club Application/ Permission Slip
Due: Friday, September 6th
I am so excited to offer Art Club to 5th graders this year! 5th Grade Art Club will be creating a variety of projects with numerous types of media including paint, clay and other materials. We will be meeting on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 7:45 – 8:15 a.m. Meetings will begin on Wednesday, September 11th.
Expectations for members are as follows:
Attend each morning meeting on time - Students should arrive at the front door by 7:45 a.m. I will open the doors at that time. Siblings that are not participating in Art Club will have to wait with parents until 7:50.
Maintain an average grade of 70 or higher in all classes
Must treat others with kindness and respect
Must treat art equipment with respect
Show pride in his or her work
Projects this year include:
Collaborative Group Canvas to be displayed at Big Thicket National Preserve
Christmas keepsake ornament

Art Hub for kids is a wonderful site for children to learn how draw all sorts of things. It gives step by step guides along with videos.
The Art Curator For Kids is site for parents to get some tips on how to talk to their kids about art and why it is important.
Check out the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. Did you know they have family days on Sunday? Visit the Kinder Foundation Education Center located in the Museum and pick up an activity pack to do with kids while there.
