Montgomery Independent School District

Junior High Summer School Program

(Grades 6-7-8 )

The Montgomery I.S.D. Junior High Summer School program is designed to provide promotional opportunities for students in grades 6-7-8. Students who were unable to meet promotion criteria during the regular school year, may enroll for credit recovery in Math and ELA.  Classes will be offered through traditional in-person instruction. Masks will be optional.  Remote instruction will only be offered with appropriate medical documentation. Contact Gifford Whitehead with questions about remote instruction and medical documentation.

Criteria (Core Subjects):

Students enrolled in grades 6-7-8 during the current school year may attend if at least one of the following criteria is met:

            1. Student is failing with an end of year average below 70 in English Language Arts (ELA) or Math.

            2. Student is failing with a core average (ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies) below 70. (Students with a core average below                   70 will take and replace the lowest semester average for ELA or Math or both if needed to raise the core average to above 70);

            3. Student is required to earn credit due to excessive absences during the recent school year. (Free)

            4. Student is participating in “Covid Catch Up” extended learning opportunity provided through summer school. This is not for                students needing to recover credit for a failing class. Click on the link “Covid Catch Up” flier. (Free)
