Leadership Starts Here
Librarian and Computer
My name is Tracie Sample and I became the Librarian at LSE in 2009. Before moving to Montgomery, I taught Fourth Grade and was a Librarian in Alief I.S.D. beginning in 1990. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Texas A&M University and a Master’s Degree in Library Science from Texas Woman's University.
Libraries have undergone a huge transformation since I became a Librarian in the early 1990’s. It is no longer a place students come just to check out books. At the Lone Star Library, we encourage students to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math by reading, thinking and making things during their C.A.M.P. rotation. Students will also visit the Library each week to check out “Books that Fit”.
Come on in and check out the amazing things that are happening in our Library. You will see students exploring, stretching their thinking by asking questions, creating and learning… and don’t forget to check out a great book while you are here!

Texas Bluebonnet Award
Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Graders across the state of Texas choose the Texas Bluebonnet Winner each year. Students must read five Bluebonnet Nominees by January to be eligible to vote for their favorite. Click on the link below for a list of these books. These books may be checked out from our Library or the Public Library. Please encourage your 3rd and 4th graders to read these awesome books.
Our Third and Fourth Grade students will participate in LSE’s Battle of the Books competition this year. Students will have until May to read books from their grade level list. Students will then come together as teams and test their knowledge of these books by participating in a Family Feud or College Bowl style competition. Good Luck and let the Battle begin!
