Dear Parents,

Greetings!  Welcome to a year of new beginnings.  My name is Mrs. Allcorn, I have been teaching choir in Montgomery for 6 years.  I am excited about a year of new beginnings in Montgomery.  As you can see from my schedule, I am at the Jr. High in the mornings, and Oak Hills Jr. High in the afternoon Your student has become a part of a wonderful music program and is about to embark on an educational and musical journey that will last a lifetime.  Montgomery choirs are known throughout the state and the nation for their tradition of excellence.

Montgomery 6th grade choir is a choir consisting of all 6th graders from Oak Hills Jr. High and Montgomery Jr. High.  We have 290 students at this time. 

 I am very excited about the opportunities Montgomery 6th grade choir will be able to take part in this year. We have scheduled Christmas (12/10@ MHS), and End of the Year(5/6 @ MHS) concerts for all Montgomery 6th grade choral students. They will also be performing during our Veteran’s Day activities (11/9), and at MISD Sings Choir Festival (1/24). Additionally, we are in the process of scheduling a Rennaisance Festival trip (11/7), and a Waterpark trip (5/17) for your student to participate in if they would like to.  Finally, we are scheduling socials throughout the year for your child to enjoy, including an a.m. Donut Social, a Fun Night at Incredible Pizza Company in Conroe, and a Skate night for all Jr. High Choir students in Montgomery.

Life at the middle school level presents many challenges for families that are involved in extra-curricular activities.  You will be given a calendar of all choral events so you can plan ahead of time.  I will make every effort not to schedule events that conflict with other SCHOOL activities.  Please take time to place the choir calendar in a conspicuous place (some people put it on their refrigerator:) 

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING FINANCIAL ORGANIZATION:

$35 Fee and Forms Packet are due 9/7/18.  Please note in the forms packet what the fee pays for, including a shirt which is part of the 6th grade uniform.  Make sure to include your child's shirt size in the forms packet. 

REMEMBER YOU WILL BE INVOICED THROUGH www.myschoolbucks.com for:  Choir Fee, Renaissance Trip, Waterpark Trip.  The choir fee must be paid first.  All concerts are free.  Socials are free, but often include food donations.  IPC and Skating you will pay at the door.

SPRING CALENDAR CHANGES

Our Concert has been moved to April 2nd at 7:00 pm. at Lake Creek High School.    All new rehearsal/audition dates are included in this document.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sights and Sounds of the Season

Dear Parents,

 

Thank you so much for your attention to auditions, and all the events on our Fall Calendar.

As you know, your students have been working diligently to prepare their first concert of the season.   The concert will be at the Montgomery High School Auditorium.  Showtime is at 7:00 p.m.  Please note the following reminders.

 

11/27-30, AND 12/4-7

MJH REHEARSAL   @6:30 – 7:20 a.m (Soloists and costumed parts)

OHJH REHEARSAL             @2:40-3:30 p.m. (Soloists and costumed parts)

 

THIS THURSDAY – 11/29 and NEXT WEDNESDAY, 12/5          

ALL CHOIR STUDENTS - BEFORE SCHOOL REHEARSALS – MJH -6:30-7:20

 This is to combine all of the choir classes, to prepare for the upcoming concert.

ALL CHOIR STUDENTS – AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSALS – OHJH – 2:40-3:30

            This is to combine all of the choir classes, to prepare for the upcoming concert.

 

12/10/18

6TH GRADE CHOIR CONCERT

            7:00 p.m. MONTGOMERY HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM

 

Students who have solos or extra parts will need to go from the Jr. High and Oak Hills to Montgomery High school right after school is out.  We should begin rehearsal by 3:15.  This rehearsal is for light and sound checks.  They will need a sack lunch or something to eat in the car on the way to the rehearsal, and their costume.

 

 ALL OTHER CHOIR STUDENTS NEED TO BE DROPPED OFF AT MONTGOMERY HIGH SCHOOL NO LATER THAN 5:30, TO PREPARE FOR THE CONCERT. 

 

PARENTS:

The auditorium doors will be locked until around 6:30 to 6:45 p.m., when parents are invited to come and watch our show.

 

THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS ASKED THAT WE MAKE SURE TO LET PARENTS KNOW TO PARK IN THE BACK OF THE SCHOOL.   PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS OR CURB IN THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL.  THEY HAVE STOPPED OUR PROGRAM, AND MADE PARENTS MOVE THEIR CARS IN THE PAST.  WE WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR HELP IN THIS MATTER.

 

  THE PROGRAM IS FREE.  IT IS GUARANTEED TO PUT YOU IN THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT.

 

                                               

                                                                       

 

COSTUME/EXTRA PART INFORMATION

 

All costumes must meet school dress code criteria.  They will need to be gathered over the Thanksgiving break.  If possible, please have your child bring a picture of what they are wearing.  The parts are conditioned on having a costume.

 

CHOIR:  Choir Shirt, Blue Jeans, (if they want to, they may wear red, green, white, gold Christmas accessories – scarves, bows, Santa Hats)

 

REINDEER:  We are looking for the pajama onesie for girls, and brown jeans/long sleeve tan shirts for guys, with reindeer antlers.

 

SANTA CLAUS:  Full Santa Outfit (we have one)  He may need a beard.

Mrs. CLAUS:  Old Fashioned Mrs. Claus

 

ELVES:  Traditional green, red white

 

SNOW SCENE:  should look like children playing in the snow. 

  Need to wear snow clothing preferably in colors of the season – red, white, green also – grey or black.

 

 

SOLOS:  AN OUTFIT OF YOUR CHOOSING that is dressy, and represents their solo.  Would prefer that they be red, white, black, green, purple, navy or gold.

THAT ALL 6TH GRADE CHOIR CLASSES HAVE A PARENT REPRESENTED ON REMIND BY FRIDAY, 9/7.  (See Remind information on the tab labeled Home.)

THAT ALL 6TH GRADE STUDENTS HAVE TURNED IN THEIR FORMS PACKET.

THAT ALL 6TH GRADE CHOIR STUDENTS HAVE PAID THEIR $35 FEE ON MYSCHOOLBUCKS.

INCREDIBLE PIZZA PARTY 9/28!
Come anytime between 3pm and 9pm and bring the flyer and Incredible Pizza will make a donation of the food sales to the MJH/OHJH Choir Departments!

Pay at the entrance as a regular customer, enjoy the food and games and together time.

Please note - this is not a drop-off-your-child-and-go event! This is not an official event. It is a get together party. Mr. Bansuelo, Ms. Wagner, and Mrs. Allcorn will not be in attendance for the full time and we are not officially supervising any student. Of course we care about the kids safety. That's why we want you there.

Renaissance Festival - $11 fee due 10/11.  Your $35 supply fee must be paid before you pay for the Renaissance Festival field trip.   Please note on  the calendar that the event is not until November 7th.  We must pay for the tickets early, and check grades for eligibility.
