Hi there!

I am excited to be joining the MES Bearcat team! This will be my 9th year teaching, and it is my sixth year in 5th grade. I am excited to be the ELA/Social Studies teacher.

To tell you a little about myself, I graduated from University of Louisiana at Monroe in Elementary Education in 2008, and the following year with my masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in reading. I also added ESL (English as Second Language) and Gifted and Talented to my certification.  Reading and writing have always been my passion, and I am excited to ignite and continue the same passion in my students as the year goes by.

My husband and I both grew up in north Louisiana, but we moved to the Houston area in 2010. We eventually made our home in Montgomery in 2014.  My husband and I are excited to raise our daughters in such an amazing community. We are even more excited that my oldest daughter will be joining me here at MES.

What are we learning in Reading?

August 21-31: Establishing procedures and creating routines in Reader's Workshop

September 4-28: Analyzing fiction texts by making inferences and drawing conclusions, determining author's purpose, and summarizing.

October 1-12: Analyzing dramas by identifying the fiction components and author's craft.

What are we learning in Writing?

The first quarter, we will be establishing Writer's Workshop. We will then begin to brainstorm, create, draft, revise and edit a personal narrative.

What are we learning in Social Studies?

We will review the geography as well as learn about the early settlers and explorers in the United States.
