Welcome to Gateway to Engineering and Flight and Space !
Middle school is a time of exploration, a time when students are figuring out what they’re passionate about today and how that relates to who they’ll become tomorrow.
During this transitional time, PLTW Gateway’s 10 units empower students to lead their own discovery. The hands-on program boosts classroom engagement and excitement, drives collaboration, and inspires “aha! moments” and deep comprehension. And as students engage in PLTW’s activities in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science, they see range of paths and possibilities they can look forward to in high school and beyond.

Hello, my name is Mrs. Miller. I am excited to be teaching PLTW-Gateway to Engineering and Flight and Space this year!
I believe that all students have the ability to learn and achieve their goals. I want to help all students become lifelong learners and feel empowered to do anything they set their minds to!
I have 5 children (2 of my own and 3 step children). Four of them are grown and either starting families of their own or perusing their education/career. The fifth is in high school with a few more years to go. I enjoy spending time with my family, fishing, swimming, taking pictures, traveling and relaxing.
I received my teaching degree and master's degree from Sam Houston State University. I began my teaching career as a substitute teacher for MISD in 2011, and became a full time teacher in 2013. I have had experience in Conroe ISD, Willis ISD, and New Waverly ISD. My specialization is 4th-8th grade Science and Mathematics I am also certified 4th-8th grade generalist, and recently obtained additional certification in 8th-12th grade Science, and PLTW-Gateway to Engineering!
I know we will have a GREAT year!
Please check my site regularly for updates and assignments.
Welcome to Mrs. Miller's PLTW Classes:
Gateway to Engineering -
This class is for students in grades 7-8. It covers two Project Lead the Way Gateway classes, Design and Modeling and Automation and robotics!
Students discover the design process and develop an understanding of the influence of creativity and innovation in their lives. They are then challenged and empowered to use and apply what they’ve learned throughout the unit to design a therapeutic toy for a child who has cerebral palsy.
Students learn about the history and impact of automation and robotics as they explore mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation, and computer control systems. Using the VEX Robotics® platform, students apply what they know to design and program traffic lights, robotic arms, and more.
Engineering Wheel Rotation-
This class is part of the 6th grade elective wheel rotation and lasts for 6 weeks. It covers the Project Lead the Way class, Flight and Space.
The exciting world of aerospace comes alive through Flight and Space. During this unit, students delve into the history of flight and space, discover the science behind aeronautics, and explore traveling and living in space. Students are then challenged to use their knowledge to design, build, and test different aircraft.
