As an educator for more than 20 years, I have always tried to share the wonder and excitement of reading with my students.  For me, teaching has been, and continues to be, a never-ending process of discovery and creativity.  I am as excited about teaching today as I was when I walked into my first classroom and taught my very first lesson.

Caesar's English is part of the vocabulary curriculum at MISD in 6th-8th grade.

Through this program, students will understand how words are constructed from Latin word stems.  As they learn the stem meanings, they will begin to apply this knowledge to whole word meanings. students will also learn the meanings of some high frequency words often used in literature or content area text.

Caesar's English is a cumulative vocabulary curriculum.  For homework, students need to learn the 5 new words or word stems presented each week and as well as review all of the previous words/stems. Students will test every Thursday over the FIVE new words/stems and SOME of the previous words/stems

Use the following link to study word stems on quizlet.com:  https://quizlet.com/join/jfHcwf5cD (opens external link in new window)

6th Six Week's Montgomery Reading Program Goal Deadline is

May 17th!!

In 6th grade you get TWO grades for the Montgomery Reading Program.  One grade is the percentage of the goal for that six week period.  The other grade is the average of all the quizzes taken.

Question:  How can you find out if a book is AR?

Answer:  AR Book Find

Most book written for students are AR books, however, there are some that aren't.  If you want to be sure the book you are reading is an AR book, go to the link below for AR Book Find and enter the title of the book. Be sure you are spelling all of the words in the title correctly.

If the book is AR, it will open a window that will give you all of the important information about that book. You can read a brief description of the book, check the reading level, and see how many AR points the book is worth.

If the book doesn't pop up, that means it probably isn't an AR book.
