We had an awesome time listening to guest readers orally read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children on Thursday, September 15.

We had a fabulous time listening to our guests reading A Monster Calls on Tuesday, October 4!

On Saturday, October 22, Dr. Fick and Ms. Creamer took 26 MMS students to the Tweens Read Book Festival at Sam Houston High School in South Houston.  The event was for 5th – 8th grade students and the purpose of the festival was to celebrate and promote reading.  The free event included keynote speakers, 32 authors in panel breakout sessions, books for sale, and author signings.  The MMS students were joined by some students and librarians from MIS and MJH.  Children and adults had an awesome experience that excited them about reading.

This week during lunch, students had the opportunity to participate in the Makerspace Dr. Fick called Construction Zone.  They brought their lunches to the library and built whatever they wanted using Legos, QBaMaze, and Power Clix.  Everyone is looking forward to the next opportunity to build in the Construction Zone.

Dr. Fick asked for help from the First United Methodist Church to teach knitting and crocheting and they came through with the help she requested.  Ladies from the FUMC have been giving lessons on knitting and crocheting to students in the library after school.  Everyone is having such a good time, they decided to make it a club!  Watch for further details in January when the Knitting & Crocheting Club opens up to new members.
