Welcome to Bear Country
"If you don't have the the time to read, you don't have the tools to write."
I look forward to meeting and working with you this year. I have new and interactive lessons planned that will keep everyday hands-on.
I am a graduate of Sam Houston State University where I earned a BA in English and minor in Secondary Education. This is my fifth year at MJH, where I have been since the beginning of my teaching career.
I am also a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an International English Honors
Society, who's main goal is to promote the appreciation of English and
literature. Reading and writing have always been a passion of mine; I
hope to share my passion with my students and help them become
successful readers and writers.
This year we will look into many different types of literature and short stories. We will use these pieces of writing to delve into deeper meanings and develop a strong understanding of the author's purpose, the connection to culture, and the effect on your journey through life.
Along with reading, we will learn different strategies to create effective writing in different formats.
Please feel free to contact me at: 936-276-2001 ext. 84324 or
via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Should you want to speak in person, please call and schedule an appointment to meet during my conference period: 1:55-2:45 pm.

Last year, our librarian Mrs. Smith introduced us to the "Global Read Aloud." This reading program was created to connect the world through reading. It is a great opportunity for students to heighten their reading experience through global communication.
During this program we read "PAX." A novel about a boy and his wolf. GRA allowed my 3/4 period class to interacted with a class from Virginia, via Skype. The Skype sessions allowed students to discuss many aspects of the novel and share predictions and thoughts.
I am happy to share that this year I will continue the program with the novel. I look forward to another interactive GRA experience.
Visit Sara Penny Packer's official website to find out more about her works and "Pax."
