Lake Creek High School graduation is a special ceremony for our students and community. Fog horns, cowbells, silly string, beach balls, etc., are NOT appropriate for this kind of ceremony. We want every parent/relative/friend in the audience to be able to hear their special student’s name being announced and awarded a diploma.
All graduates must be on the field no later than 6:15pm for line up and final instructions. Only participates are allowed on the field. The band, which consists of many seniors, will begin a short rehearsal at 6:00pm. The stadium will open for seating at 6:00 pm.
DIPLOMAS will be given to the graduates at the end of the ceremony. They will receive them before they leave the field.
A professional photographer from ImaginLight will be on duty to take pictures of all graduating seniors. Picture order forms will be given to students at the Graduation practice on Thursday, May 20th. The packet with money/check will be collected at the concession stand before and after graduation. Order forms may also be mailed to ImaginLight.
Picture Order Form Students will receive one at graduation practice. There will also be a link in Google Classroom and on the Class of 2021 website.
Seating is on a first come basis. No tickets are issued, as there is ample space available in the stadium. The stadium will open the doors at 6:00pm for seating. We recommend you bring a towel to cover or dry off the bleachers. Reservations are NOT available for seating. Handicap seating is on the bottom 3 rows around the stadium. Each member in party who will need a handicap seat may have one other member sit with them. Please be respectful and follow this need. We want all parent/relative/friend to be comfortable and safe.
Cap and Gown Etiquette
The caps are worn with the mortarboard flat. This year students are allowed to decorate their mortarboards. The design needs to follow the MISD dress code requirements. Begin with the tassel on the left side, moving it to the right when told to do so during the ceremony. Males will remove the graduation cap during the National Anthem, Opening remarks and pledge. They will then replace the cap on head and fix tassel. Females do not need to remove cap.
Young men should wear dress slacks or pressed jeans with a white collared shirt. Ties are acceptable and encouraged, but optional. Young ladies are to wear dresses or dress slacks, dress shoes and/or dress sandals that complement the gown. No pointed heels on the turf please. DO NOT BRING A PURSE or personal items with you. When all seniors follow this pattern of dress, the class will look uniform in its caps and gowns, lending the proper dignity to the graduation ceremony.
NO corsages, ribbons, pins, etc on gowns are allowed. Only approved cords, pins, stoles, honor medals, and National Honor Society collars may be worn.
REMEMBER, this is a formal ceremony. During the graduation exercises, mature conduct is expected. Please do not talk during the graduation exercises. The staff has worked hard to make this a dignified occasion, which will be a cherished memory for all participants and guests.
Inclement Weather Provisions
In the event we cannot hold graduation at the MISD football stadium due to inclement weather, graduation will be moved to the Lake Creek High School Competition Gym. Seating would be limited. More information to come.
If we move to the competition gym, communication about details to the event will be communicated by email through school messenger and on the LCHS website..
All males must sign up for Selective Service upon the 18th birthday. No federally funded financial aid will be awarded without this being done.
