Nicks and Shannon KES 2018-19
Welcome to my website! I'm Makinzie Nicks. I've been teaching 3rd and 4th grade for five years now. I am from Huntsville, Texas and I graduated from SHSU with an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies focused on EC-6th Grade general instruction. I am working on my graduate degree in Instructional Technology from SHSU, as well! Eat 'em Up, KATS!
Likes: My family, autumn, snow, helping others, cats, books, traveling, technology, purple, coffee.
Dislikes: Tomatoes, spiders, grumpiness, unkindness, empty coffee pots.
I have a deep passion for reading, writing, helping other, and preparing children for the future they want for themselves! I believe in empowering students to chase their dreams and guiding them to become lifelong learners! Technology is here...so let's embrace it! But I will always encourage a balance of technology and hands-on learning.
I'm so excited to work with your child! Thank you for sharing them with me. Let's make this a WONDERFUL year!

Homework in sent home every Monday (unless I forget to print it...then it will be sent Tuesday! Oops!) It is due on Friday.
There is a task for the student to complete each day, and there are words on the back that should be practiced daily. Please have your child read the words aloud and practice spelling them. They are frequent word lists and will greatly improve your child's reading and spelling abilities!
After Christmas, our homework will transition into passages and questions.
