Mallory Kirby, Principal “Welcome to Hollywood… where every 5 th grader is a STAR!”

I LOVE being the principal of the best 5th grade campus in the district,
Montgomery Intermediate School, the one and only 5 th grade campus in
MISD!! What a special year this is as we begin “the final countdown”
to it being the last year of Montgomery Intermediate. There have
been lots of great memories and stories to tell, but we have “Saved the
BEST for Last” and are looking forward to the class of 2024 being a
part of this special year! I can’t even begin to tell you how excited
and honored I am to be their principal.

Eleven years ago when I started teaching at MIS, I knew this was the
community and district where I wanted to achieve my career goals.
Every year has gotten better! ? The students, parents, and community
are truly amazing. My husband Trey always told me that once you get
to Montgomery, his hometown, you would not want to leave. These
words always stuck with me, and I have to admit he was right again!

Being at Montgomery Intermediate, my goal is to provide a fun, safe
learning environment for each and every student. I want 5 th grade to
be the best year yet!! Our campus motto for this year is “Welcome to
Hollywood…where every 5 th grader is a STAR.” I hope to ensure that
the transition from elementary school to the intermediate campus is as
smooth as possible by keeping the lines of communication open and
encouraging parental involvement. We hope that each of you can come
be a part of the activities that take place.

The common vision our staff shares and our continued team spirit will
continue to be at the heart of all we do, and student success will
remain our #1 priority.

I look forward to spending this school year with each of you and
welcome you to MIS, where
               “5th Graders are our Specialty!”
Let’s have a FANTASTIC school year!!!

Shelby Smith, Assistant Principal
Hello and welcome to MIS, where you will find an amazing staff and faculty, and the best kids on earth!  Fifth grade is a fun year, and one of many transitions for students and we love to be able to work with students as they prepare for the years ahead.  I pride myself in listening to student concerns and want them to know they can come to me at anytime for anything!

I'm starting my 14th year in education, and my 4th in Montgomery.  I love being part of the Montgomery ISD family and look forward to a year full of memories, learning and laughter!

Please don't hesitate to call or email if you have any questions or concerns that I can help with!

Kim Wunderlich, Counselor

I am so happy and proud to be serving as your child’s school counselor while they are with us at Montgomery Intermediate School. I have found the atmosphere of this campus to be warm, friendly and inviting and that is because the entire team works hard at jobs they love and you can feel the positive energy when you walk in the door. I love my job, my colleagues, the students I have the privilege to work with, and the parents who allow this team to work with their most precious possession—their child.

The 5th grade year is full of change. Our student’s face wonderful changes developmentally, emotionally, and of course, physically. What an exciting time! I believe every child has the capacity within themselves to embrace these changes and navigate any challenges which they may encounter. I use a child-centered approach to counseling which allows a student to work through a challenge in their own way and at their own pace. It is so gratifying to see a child face and conquer these challenges and realize the power they have within themselves.

Please feel free to contact me anytime, and let your student know that my door is always open. All they need to do is ask to come see me.
